Exploring the World, One Story at a Time

Hey Reader! A warm welcome to my life page.

Hi, I’m Madhuri Suryawanshi, the voice behind MaddyThinks.ca.

I’m a working professional, immigrant, and frequent traveler who believes that travel is amazing but also messy, stressful, and very real.

I work in a field that gives me the privilege of traveling often, and honestly, I love it. But travel for me has never been about luxury hotels or picture‑perfect moments. It’s about figuring things out – airports, baggage rules, visas, credit cards, long layovers, and everything that can (and does) go wrong along the way.

A Little About My Journey

I’ve lived in multiple countries for long stretches of time:

  • Over 20 years in India
  • 1 year in the UK
  • 6+ years in the US
  • And now, I call Canada home

Living across countries has given me a very real, on‑the‑ground perspective of international travel, especially when you’re balancing a career, family, and responsibilities alongside it.

Why I Started MaddyThinks

When I moved countries, I quickly realized something: Most travel blogs don’t talk about the real stuff.

Things like:

  • Airline baggage rules (and how confusing they can be)
  • Airport experiences that aren’t glamorous
  • Immigration‑related travel stress
  • Credit cards, airport lounges, insurance, and packing checklists
  • What actually goes wrong and how to deal with it

I started MaddyThinks to document what I wish I had known earlier.
Not as a travel influencer but as a working professional and immigrant trying to travel smart while managing real life.

What You’ll Find on This Blog

On MaddyThinks.ca, I write about:

  • International travel experiences (especially India ↔ Canada)
  • Airline baggage rules & airport tips
  • Airport lounges, credit cards & travel comforts
  • Travel checklists for new immigrants & visitors
  • Honest, practical travel advice — no hype

Everything I share is based on personal experience, careful research, or both.

A Bit More About Me

Professionally, I work in IT and service management, which means I’m naturally detail‑oriented, practical, and structured. That mindset shows up in my writing — I like:

  • Clear explanations
  • Step‑by‑step guidance
  • Realistic expectations

Travel for me isn’t about luxury or perfect photos. It’s about:

  • Making smart choices
  • Reducing stress
  • Learning how to move through the world more confidently
